John Henry Hafer
M, (7 February 1777 - 13 October 1853)
John Henry Hafer was born on 7 February 1777 at Alsace Township, Berks County, Province of Pennsylvania, USA.1 He was the son of Matthias Haëffer and Julia Schmid. John Henry Hafer married, at age 22, Gertrude Kline, daughter of Henry Kline and Catharina [—?—], on Tuesday, 4 June 1799 at Berks County, Pennsylvania. John Henry Hafer married Catherine Diehl, daughter of John Diehl, circa 1816. John Henry Hafer died on 13 October 1853 at Alsace Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania, at age 76 years, 8 months and 6 days.1 He was buried in the Schwartzwald Church Cemetery, located in Exeter Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania.1
JOHN HAFER. Native of Berks County and for many years resided on his farm in Alsace and Exeter townships, which he cultivated in addition to working at his trade of stone mason. He assisted in the erection of the old Schwartzwald stone church and of Spie s church in Alsace township. He is recalled as a man of robust appearance. There are numerous mention of other Hafers in these records as sponsors for non-Hafer baptisms, viz. Haefers/Haeffer - Frederick, Catherina, Elizabeth, Issac, George, Magdelena, Anton...' Buried at Schwartzwald Cemetary.
