Donald Paul Sholder was born on 28 January 1924 at Fourth Street, Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.2 He was the son of Victor Paul Sholder and Madeline Elizabeth Hinston.1,3 Donald Paul Sholder was baptized, at age 32 years, 4 months and 9 days, on Wednesday, 6 June 1956 at Church of Christ, Newberry, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. He married, at age 21, Rita Pearl Etters, age 19, daughter of Ralph Reuben Etters and Lula Mae McCartney, on Tuesday, 18 December 1945 at Newberry, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Donald Paul Sholder died on 10 March 2002 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, Bonneville County, Idaho, at age 78 years, 1 month and 10 days.2 He was buried on 14 March 2002.
He appears in a family snapshot circa 1930. Also, seated on the porch are most likely Sarah (Miller) and George Hinston, Madeline's parents. He and Rita Pearl Etters moved to Idaho Falls, Bonneville County, Idaho, in October 1957.

Donald P. Sholder, 78, of Idaho Falls, died March 10, 2002, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
He was born January 28, 1924, in Williamsport, PA, to Victor Paul and Madaline Elizabeth (Hinston) Sholder. He grew up and attended schools in the area. During World War II he served in both the Pacific and European Theaters on the Destroyer escort, the USS Marchand, as a First Class Water Tender. After returning home, he was employed by Weldon Manufacturing as an electrician, and was later employed by Avco, Airplane Division in Williamsport.
On December 18, 1945, he married Rita P. Etters in Williamsport. He moved his family to Idaho Falls in 1958, where he was employed by Phillips Petroleum, the Atomic Energy Commission, and then Idaho Nuclear until the time of his retirement in 1988.
He was a member of the First Christian Church. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren bowl, and he also enjoyed playing cards, fishing, hunting and watching John Wayne movies.
Survivors include his wife, Rita Sholder of Idaho Falls; two daughters, Sharon (Dennis) Howe and Renee (Richard) Jones, both of Idaho Falls; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A private family service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Ave, Idaho Falls, with Chaplain John Piirto of the First Lutheran Church officiating. The family will meet with friends Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. According to the Social Security Administrations Death Index Donald's last known residence was Idaho Falls, Bonneville County, Idaho.2
