     Caroline M. Sholder was born on 25 March 1852 at farm of Christian (Scholderer) Sholder, Lycoming Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.3 She was the daughter of Christian August Scholderer and Anna Margareta Lutscher.4,1 Caroline M. Sholder married, at age 26, Clinton Miller Calkins, age 22, son of William Henry Calkins, on Tuesday, 4 June 1878 at Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, by the Reverend John Donahue.5,1,6 Caroline M. Sholder died on 9 April 1920 at age 68 years and 15 days.
     Caroline M. Sholder was also known as Carolina Shoulder.6 Caroline M. Sholder was also known as Carrie M.5

Caroline M. Sholder was enumerated on 30 July 1860 as a resident in the household of Christian August Scholderer in the Eighth Census for the United States of America, in the State of Pennsylvania, Lycoming County, Old Lycoming Township age 8 born in Pennsylvania.7 Caroline M. Sholder and Clinton Miller Calkins appeared on the census of 13 June 1900 at Old Lycoming Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Caroline M. Sholder and Clinton Miller Calkins appeared on the census of 3 May 1910 at Race Street, Old Lycoming Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Caroline M. Sholder appears in family photograph on 24 August 1912 Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. This was taken as a part of a family reunion in which this photograph appeared in the Sunday Grit on 1 September 1912. She appeared on the census of 22 January 1920 in the household of Floyd Douglas Calkins and Carrie Elizabeth Updegraff at Old Lycoming Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.

Kevin first saw this document in September of 1992, then owned by Lois Grace (Calkins) Huggins (1914 – 1999) granddaughter of Clinton and Caroline (Sholder) Calkins, Williamsport, Pennsylvania when he was able to make a copy. As of 2003 this was owned by Ronald Floyd Calkins (1929 - 2016), 528 Ruben Kehrer Road, Muncy, PA 17756-8043. As of 2009 this was owned by Michael Earl and Donna Rae (Mecum) Kriner, Montoursville, PA. This was passed to Michael Earl Kriner from his uncle Ronald Floyd Calkins whom received them from his sister, Lois Grace (Calkins) Huggins, from her father, Floyd Douglas Calkins, from his mother, Caroline M. (Sholder) Calkins the daughter of Christian August Scholderer & Anna Margareta Lutscher. Sometime between 1992 and 2005 this was laminated in plastic, as stated by Michael. In March of 2009 full size electronic scans were made of the documents by Kevin L. Sholder.

    This certificate states the following: That Clinton M. Calkins of Williamsport [Pennsylvania] and Carrie [Caroline] M. Sholders [Sholder] of Williamsport were by me united in the bonds of marriage at Williamsport according to the ordinance of God and the Laws of the State of Pennsylvania on the Fourth day of June A.D. 1878. It also shows Witness Present was E. M. [last name illegible] and is signed John Donahue, Minister of the Gospel, shows name as Carrie M. Sholders.
