Peter Dixon was born on 4 December 1784 at Monroe, Amherst County, Virginia. He was the son of George Dixon and Sophronia VanBibber. Peter Dixon first married Lucy Long in 1808. Peter Dixon married a second time, at age 45, Mary Maguet on Wednesday, 29 September 1830 at Gallipolis, Gallia County, Ohio. Peter Dixon died on 12 January 1865 at Woodland, Carroll County, Illinois, at age 80 years, 1 month and 8 days.
