Ruth Eleanor Phillips was born on 5 April 1923.2 She was the daughter of Thomas H. Phillips and Alice O. Waggoner.2 Ruth Eleanor Phillips married, at age 25, DeLos Durrwachter Beach, age 26, son of Norman Charles Beach and Mary Jennie Durrwachter, on Saturday, 26 June 1948 at All Saints Episcopal Church, Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.3 Ruth Eleanor Phillips died on 14 January 2008 at age 84 years, 9 months and 9 days.2
The former Ruth Eleanor Phillips was listed in DeLos Durrwachter Beach's obituary on 27 March 2003 in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, as his wife.4 Her obituary was published on 16 January 2008 Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Her obituary stated:
Ruth Eleanor Beach, 84, of Cogan Station, died Monday, January 14, 2008 at the Williamsport Hospital.
Her husband of 54 years, DeLos D. Beach, died on March 25, 2003. Ruth and DeLos operated a dairy farm for many years. After his death, she continued to contribute much to the continuation of the Stoltz Cemetery.
Ruth was a Coast Guard veteran of World War II, a member of Hepburn Baptist and All Saints Episcopal Churches. She enjoyed participating in the various activities of the churches.
She was a cashier for the former Brozman’s, retiring in the mid 1980’s.
Born April 5, 1923 in Williamsport, she was the daughter of Thomas H. and Alice O. Waggoner Phillips.
Surviving are son, Richard D. of Williamsport; daughters, Judy E. Back of Huntsville, AL and Joyce E. (Terry H.) Rogers of Cogan Station; sisters, Connie Buscher of Philadelphia and Doris Burget of Williamsport; grandchildren, Jeremiah and Robert Back, Douglas and Nicole Wood and six great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by brothers, Charles E., William G., Thomas H., Jr., Jack T. and Marvin R. Phillips; sisters, Dorothy E. Garverick, Mary J. Fenderson, Rose K. Artman, Emily E. Campbell and Alice M. Husted.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Knight-Confer’s, 1914 Memorial Avenue with Pastor Lee Austin officiating. There will be a visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Stoltz Cemetery, Hepburn Twp.
The family will provide the flowers and suggests contributions be made to the Hepburn Baptist Church, 2917 Pleasant Valley Rd., Cogan Station, PA 17728 or All Saints Episcopal Church, 1656 Scott St., Williamsport, PA 17701.2
