James Lewis Updegrove1

     James Lewis Updegrove was born in 1843 at Pennsylvania.1 He was the son of Thomas F. Updegrove and Margaret Blair.1 James Lewis Updegrove died in May 1864 at Pickets Mill, Georgia, at age 21 years.2
     He appeared on the census of 11 September 1850 in the household of Thomas F. Updegrove and Margaret Blair at Wayne Township, Wayne County, Ohio.1 James enlisted on 27 April 1861 with Company E, 15th Regiment Ohio Volunteer Infantry. He was wounded at Stone River on 31 December 1862, was promoted to Corporal on 4 April 1863, and was killed at Picketts Mill, Georgia in May of 1864.2
