     Bertha E. Carpenter was born on 16 March 1921 at Linden, Woodward Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of William Stewart Carpenter and Florence Bertha Waltz.1 Bertha E. Carpenter married William Walter Palmeter circa 1942. Bertha E. Carpenter died on 16 August 2000 at Linden, Woodward Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 79 years and 5 months. She was buried on 18 August 2000 in the Green Lawn Cemetery, located in Lansdale, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.
     Her obituary was published on 17 August 2000 in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Her obituary stated:

     Bertha E. Palmeter, 79, of 303 Reynolds Road, Linden, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000. Her husband, Walter W. Palmeter I, died Dec. 28, 1962. She was a cafeteria worker for the Williamsport Area School District.

     Born March 16, 1921, in Linden, she was a daughter of William S. and Florence Waltz Carpenter. Surviving are three sons, Walter W. II of Linden, Gary W. of Jersey Shore and Eddie A. of Allenwood; a daughter, Sandra L. Sturgeon of St. Cloud, Fla; a sister, Ruth Smith of Linden; a brother, William Carpenter of Linden; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Aldas L. tPeteA Carpenter who died Friday; another brother, John Carpenter; and two sisters, Marintha Wagner and Ethel Knauss.

     The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Sanders , 821 Diamond St., with the Rev. Wendi C. Gordon of St. Matthew Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home from noon to 1 p.m Friday.
