Allen Eugene Gehr was born on 30 August 1921 at Warrensville, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1,2 He was the son of Harry Jacob Gehr and Florence Ardella Ulmer.2 Allen Eugene Gehr married, at age 40, June Elizabeth Nittinger on Saturday, 23 June 1962.2 Allen Eugene Gehr died on 15 December 2002 at Loyalsock Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 81 years, 3 months and 15 days.1,2 He was buried on 19 December 2002 in the Edgewood Cemetery, located in Montoursville, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. The funeral service was officiated by Reverend Richard D. Gessling and Reverend Ivar C. Johnson.2
Allen Eugene Gehr Allen and June had no children. His obituary was published on 16 December 2002 in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. His obituary stated:
Allen E. Gehr, 81 of Loyalsock Twp., died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2002, at his residence. He was born Aug. 30, 1921, in Warrensville, PA, a son of Harry J. and Florence (Ulmer) Gehr.
Mr. Gehr is a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served from 1943 to 1946 aboard the U.S.S. Appalachian. He was retired from Textron in Williamsport where he was a machinist.
On June 23, 1962, he married his wife of 40 years, the former June E. Nittinger who survives. He is also survived by two brothers Harry Gehr of Montoursville, and Thomas Gehr of Fairfax, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Russell Gehr.
The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St., Montoursville, with the Rev. Richard D. Gessling and the Rev. Ivar C. Johnson of First Friends Church officiating. Burial will be in the Edgewood Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to First Friends Church, 1300 Tinsman Ave., Williamsport, PA 17701.2
