     Martha Jane Nail was born on 21 January 1854 at Macoupin County, Illinois.1 She was the daughter of Nathaniel L. Nail and Sarah Ann Pence. Martha Jane Nail married, at age 17, Jacob Ball on Saturday, 24 June 1871.1 Martha Jane Nail died on 18 November 1913 at age 59 years, 9 months and 28 days.1 She was buried in the Elmwood Cemetery, located in Litchfield, Montgomery County, Illinois.1
