Nelson Monroe Fisher

     Nelson Monroe Fisher was born on 5 December 1915 at Anthony Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1 He was the son of Clarence Fisher and Elizabeth Pearl Metzger. Nelson Monroe Fisher married, at age 23, Dorothy Ida Paulhamus, daughter of Sylvester William Paulhamus and Bessie Roseanna Kinley, on Wednesday, 26 April 1939 at Good Shepherd Evangelical United Brethren Church Parsonage, Bloomsburg, Columbia County, Pennsylvania, by the Reverend Alfred C. Paulhamus.2 Nelson Monroe Fisher died on 24 February 2003 at Roseview Manor, Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 87 years, 2 months and 19 days.1 He was buried on 27 February 2003 in the State Road United Methodist Church Cemetery, located in Lycoming Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.
     His obituary was published on 26 February 2003 in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. His obituary stated:

     Nelson M. Fisher, 87, of 282 Chestnut Ridge Road, Jersey Shore, died Monday, Feb. 24, 2003, at Rose View Center, following an extended illness. He and his wife, the former Dorothy I. Paulhamus, celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary on April 26.

     Nelson was a self-employed farmer, welder and truck driver.

     He was a member of St. John’s Chapel United Methodist Church and he enjoyed coon and deer hunting.

     Born Dec. 5, 1915, in Anthony Twp., he was a son of Clarence and Lizzie P. Metzger Fisher.

     Surviving besides his wife, are a son, Robert W. (Betty) of Cogan Station; daughters Maxine R. (H.Lynn) Peacock, Beatrice M. (Wayne) Hall and Kay M. (Curt) Paulhamus, all of Jersey Shore; sisters Florence R. Heinlen and Mildred M. Cavanaugh, both of Williamsport and Martha L. Thompson of Oval; 10 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

     Nelson was predeceased by a daughter, Anna Mae Hensler; a son, Donald Allen, who was stillborn; and sisters Stella Thomas and Mary Ulmer.

     Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Knight-Confer’s, 1914 Memorial Ave., with the Rev. Judith P. Hulslander and the Rev. Dr. Wayne L. Hepler officiating. Burial will be in State Road Cemetery. Visitation from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. The family will provide the flowers and suggests donations to the church, c/o Nancy Cohick, 4550 Pine Run Road, Linden, PA 17744.3
