Vernon Dale Reeder was born on 5 June 1915 at Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1 He was the son of Foster A. Reeder and Edna Florence Updegraff. Vernon Dale Reeder married, at age 19, Ruth F. Dangle, daughter of William George Dangle and Olive Rebecca Rathmell, on Monday, 21 January 1935 at Montoursville, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.2 Vernon Dale Reeder died on 22 March 2001 at age 85 years, 9 months and 17 days.1
He was a salesman. As of circa 1988, Vernon Dale Reeder lived at 727 Spruce Street, Montoursville, Pennsylvania. His obituary was published on 24 March 2001 in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. His obituary stated:
V. Dale Reeder, 85, of 727 Spruce St., Montoursville, died March 22, 2001 at Valley View Nursing Center.
Born June 5, 1915, in Williamsport, he was the son of Foster A. and Florence Updegraff Reeder. Mr. Reeder and his wife, the former Ruth F. Dangle, celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on January 21, 2001.
He retired from Montour Auto Service as a salesman after 37 years and then worked at Spitler Funeral Home until 1997. A member of Faith United Methodist Church, he was a former Sunday School Superintendent. He was also a member of the Williamsport Country Club and its Men’s Tuesday Night League being an avid golfer, the Wheel Inn, and life member of the Antlers Country Club. He was a former secretary and umpire while active in the Montoursville Little League.
Surviving besides his wife are three sons, Eugene of New York City, NY, Robert R. of Bloomsburg and Gary of Montoursville; two brothers, James of Montoursville and Harley of Thornton, NJ; 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, J. Harris.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St., Montoursville with a visitation prior from 1-2 p.m. His pastor, Rev. Paul C. Murphy will officiate and burial will be in Montoursville Cemetery. The family suggest in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Valley View Nursing Center, 2140 Warrensville Road, Montoursville, PA 17754.
