Sophia Updegraff was born in March 1871.1 She was the daughter of Joseph Updegraff and Mary Slaughenwhite. Sophia Updegraff married, at age 19, John O. Straw, son of Philip Straw and Sarah [—?—], on Sunday, 25 May 1890 at Fairview, Pennsylvania, by the Reverend Robert Heck.1
