     James William Updegraff was born in 1880 at Montoursville, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1 He was the son of James Marshall Updegraff and Angeline Bucher. James William Updegraff married Anna Laura Mitcheltree, daughter of Isaac Newton Mitcheltree and Catherine Rebecca Weigle, on Thursday, 11 April 1907 at Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1 James William Updegraff died on 28 February 1952 at Woodward Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 72 years.1
     He was employed by the railroad in 1925.
