Lucile Kemp was born on 2 December 1916 at Grants Pass, Josephinie County, Oregon. She married, at age 29, Standish Curtis Hulse, age 39, son of George C. Hulse and Elizabeth Burns, on Saturday, 8 June 1946 at San Francisco, San Francisco County, California. Lucile Kemp died on 21 March 2008 at Willits, Mendocino County, California, at age 91 years, 3 months and 19 days.
She was widowed at age 80 by the death of Standish on 21 February 1997. The Willits News

Lucile Kemp Hulse passed away on Friday, March 21, 2008, at the age of 91 at her home in Willits.
She was born on December 2, 1916 in Grants Pass, Oregon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Standish Curtis Hulse, with whom she shared 50 wonderful years of marriage, and her son, Timothy James Hulse.
She is survived by her sister, Bernice Condit of Lafayette; her two daughters, Jennifer Hulse Watts and Geraldine Hulse-Stephens, both of Willits; and four grandchildren, Nathan Stephens, Michael Watts, Milo Hulse-Stephens and Suzanne Watts.
Lucile Kemp grew up in San Francisco, the daughter of James Murray Kemp and Eva Howe Kemp. A graduate of Lowell High School, she received her B.A. from U.C. Berkeley in 1939.?She worked as chief reservations agent for Western Airlines during World War II and married Stan Hulse in 1946.?They raised their family in Burlingame and in 1965 bought Lake Pillsbury Resort, which they ran with their two daughters for five years.
In 1970 they moved back to the Bay Area and helped Jenny with her nursery in San Jose in the late 1970s. In 1981, they moved to Willits, joining Jenny and Geri there. Tim later moved to Willits as well.?She enjoyed being a grandmother as the family grew.
During their retirement, they took numerous trips to foreign ports, often on freighters, enjoying many adventures along the way.?Both Lu and Stan worked at Sanhedrin Nursery for many years and she was the smile behind the counter that greeted patrons for

25 years.
She retired at age 88 and spent her remaining years living at Redwood Meadows enjoying her long life to the very end, surrounded by family, neighbors and friends.
She loved her life and lived it to the fullest, and appreciated all the many people in Willits who helped her make the most of her time here.?Her smile and laughter will be missed by all who knew her.
There will be a celebration of her long and happy life at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, at the clubhouse at Redwood Meadows Senior Housing.
