James Parker was born on 19 February 1841 at Hendricks Township, Shelby County, Indiana.1 He was the son of Grant Parker and Merib Updegraff.1 James Parker married, at age 22, Maria Clark, age 21, daughter of James M. Clark and Mary Mason, on Thursday, 31 December 1863.1 James Parker died after 1887.1
He and Maria lived on a farm in Hendricks Township, Shelby County, Indiana, then about 1865 they moved to Brandywine Township, Shelby County, Indiana, then later to Addison Township, Shelby County, Indiana, returning to Brandywine Township in September of 1883. James was a Republican.1 He was a farmer.
