Anna Belle Tepel1

Anna Belle Tepel was born on 27 March 1917 at Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1 She married, at age 23, J. Weir Smith, age 29, son of Arthur G. Smith and Clara Elizabeth Waltz, on Thursday, 12 September 1940.1 Anna Belle Tepel died on 26 August 2007 at Williamsport Hospital, Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 90 years, 4 months and 30 days.1 She was buried on 30 August 2007 in the Wildwood Cemetery, located in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1
Her obituary was published on 28 August 2007 in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Her obituary stated:
Mrs. Anna Belle Smith, 90, of 427 Wyndham Court, Williamsport, died Sunday, August 26, 2007, at the Williamsport Hospital.
Born March 27, 1917 at Williamsport, Anna Belle was the oldest daughter of the late John J. and Estelle Carson Tepel.
She attended Williamsport public schools, graduating from Williamsport High School in 1934.
Anna Belle married J. Wier Smith on September 12, 1940, and they enjoyed 55 years of happiness together. She was a devoted and loving wife to Wier until his death on May 29, 1996.
Anna Belle was an active member of Saint Mark’s Lutheran Church at Williamsport and had been an associate member of the Silver Springs Shores Presbyterian Church in Ocala, Fla. She belonged to the Daughters of the American Revolution and was a member of the Woman’s Club of Williamsport, where she was an avid bridge player.
Anna Belle enjoyed playing golf with her husband and was a former member of the Turbot Hills Country Club in Milton. She also spent time at the Gray’s Run Club with her husband, family, and friends.
She is survived by her two sisters, Charlotte (John E. Jr.) Person and Elizabeth (and her late husband Robert) Chrisman, both of Williamsport; four nephews, John Person, Michael (Julie) Person, Thomas (Marsha) Person, and Gary Chrisman; a niece, Sandra Person (widow of David Person), all of the Williamsport area; three great nieces, eight great nephews, three great great nieces and one great grand nephew.
In addition to her late parents and her late husband, she was also predeceased by her brother, Chauncey L. Tepel, and a nephew, David Person.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 30, 2007 at Saint Mark’s Lutheran Church, 142 North Market Street, Williamsport. Her pastor, the Rev. Kenneth R. Elkin, will officiate.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation in the Chapel of the Church from 10 a.m. until the time of the services at the church Thursday morning.
Burial will be at Wildwood Cemetery. The family will provide the flowers. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions in memory of Anna Belle Smith may be made, if so desired, to Saint Mark’s Lutheran Church, 142 North Market Street, Williamsport, PA 17701. Immediately following the committal services at the cemetery, everyone is invited to attend a further Celebration of the Life of Anna Belle T. Smith to be held at Fellowship Hall of the church. Those unable to go to the cemetery are invited to wait at the Fellowship Hall of the Church.
Arrangements are being directed by the Charles M. Noll Funeral Home, 1 East Central Avenue, South Williamsport.1
