Jessie J. Cockburn was born on 1 December 1872 at Scotland.2 She was the daughter of James Cockburn.1 Jessie J. Cockburn married, at age 23, Wilhelm Mills Kurtz, age 34, son of Isaak Kurz and Katharina Miller, in January 1896 at Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, by the J. M. Hoefflin.1 Jessie J. Cockburn died on 18 September 1907 at age 34 years, 9 months and 17 days.3 She was buried in the Wildwood Cemetery, located in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1
Jessie taught herself the German language so that she was better able to sing in the church choir at Calvary church. She was a member of the choir for 12 years. She immigrated in 1874 to United States of America.1
