Wilfred Luther Dahlgren was born on 20 October 1914.1 He married Ruth Irene Fry, daughter of Harry Arden Fry and Florence Lillian Kiess, circa 1941.2 Wilfred Luther Dahlgren died on 19 December 2006 at age 92 years, 1 month and 29 days.1
His obituary was published on 21 December 2006 in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. His obituary stated:
Wilfred Luther “Doggie” Dahlgren, 92, formerly of Hughesville, died on Thursday, Dec. 19, 2006, at Jefferson Manor Nursing Center, Brookville.
His first wife, the former Ruth Irene Fry, died on Jan. 15, 1963. He is also preceded in death by his second wife, the former Ann Ford Lego.
Wilfred was born in Munson, Clearfield Co., on Oct. 20, 1914, the youngest of 14 children, to the late Lars Johan Andersson and Emma Sophia (Eriksson) Dahlgren.
Wilfred graduated from Williamsport High School in 1932. He was a US Army veteran of World War II. He was formerly employed by Fry Brothers Meat Market in Williamsport, owned and operated Dahlgren Sunoco Service Station in Hughesville, worked for Dahlgren Brothers Pure Service Station in Pensacola, Fla., Metropolitan Life Insurance, Pensacola, Bill Fry Ford in Montoursville and owned and operated Dahlgren Ford in Hughesville.
He was a member of Evangelical Friends Church in Hughesville, Gideon’s International as a Lay Speaker and President of the Lycoming County Camp and Rotary International-former past President of the Hughesville Chapter. He enjoyed woodworking, golfing, gardening, traveling and boating.
He is survived by one daughter, Debra Diane Dahlgren Bailey of Brookville; one step daughter, Rebecca Auble of Pittsburgh; one brother, Thomas Dahlgren of Pensacola, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by a daughter, Vicki Dahlgren Richart; six brothers, Andrew, Carl, Harry, Arthur, Ted and Ernie; six sisters, Esther, Anne, Emma, Ella, Ebba and Hilda.
The funeral service will be held today 2 p.m. at the Evangelical Friends Church, 137 S. Third St., Hughesville, with his pastor, the Rev. Dan Cale, officiating. Burial will be in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy. Friends will be received in the church from 1 until 2 p.m. today. McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, Hughesville, is entrusted to the arrangements.1
