Donald Ellis Crane was born on 3 August 1925.1 He married, at age 22, Constance May Gilbody, daughter of Eric Gilbody and Mary Newcomer, on Saturday, 1 May 1948. Donald Ellis Crane died on 7 January 2004 at age 78 years, 5 months and 4 days.1
His obituary was published on 9 January 2004 in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. His obituary stated:
Donald E. Crane, 78, of 835 Upper Powys Road, Cogan Station, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004, at home.
He was born Aug. 3, 1925, in Kendia, N.Y., a son of the late Roland and Ethel Williams Crane.
Donald was married to the former Constance M. Gilbody on May 1, 1948.
He was a member of the Garden View Baptist Church, where he attended Bible study fellowship and was a deacon, trustee, usher and the caretaker. Donald was a truck driver for Hall’s Motor Freight from 1956 to 1983 and early in his life he enjoyed farming. He was a past member of the Teamsters Union, Nittany Antique Machinery Association, Loyalsock Valley Antique Machinery Association and a member of the Lycoming County Historical Museum.
He is survived by his wife, Constance; a son, Joshua (Crystal) of Williamsport; three daughters, Christen Crispin and Camille Crane, both of Cogan Station, and Charm (James) Young of Montoursville; a sister, Shirley Greene of Groton, N.Y; a brother, Douglas of Dover, Del; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Friends and relatives are invited to Donald’s life celebration 11 a.m. Saturday at the Garden View Baptist Church, 1600 Doris Ave., with the Rev. Russell Small officiating. A gathering will be from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will be in Wildwood Cemetery.
Family will provide the flowers and suggests contributions be made to the Garden View Baptist Church or Susquehanna Home Health Care-Hospice, 1100 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701. Arrangements are being handled by the Maneval Funeral Home, Ltd., “A Life Celebration Home,” 500 W. Fourth St.2
