Lawrence Wylie was born on 22 March 1916 at New Tazewell, Claiborne County, Tennessee. He was the son of William Robert Wylie and Almeda Yoakum. Lawrence Wylie married Effie Raby circa 1939. Lawrence Wylie died on 4 November 2002 at Claiborne County Hospital, Tazewell, Claiborne County, Tennessee, at age 86 years, 7 months and 13 days. He was buried in the Yoakum Chapel Cemetery, located in Claiborne County, Tennessee.

LAWRENCE WYLIE
SHAWANEE, Tenn. Lawrence Wylie, 86, passed away Monday, Nov. 4, 2002, at Claiborne County Hospital. Born March 22, 1916 in New Tazewell, Tenn., he was a member of Arthur Church of God, a veteran of the United States Army, and had worked for Licoln Memorial University for many years as a grounds keeper. He enjoyed landscaping and working on old cars.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Robert and Almeda Yoakum Wylie; wife, Effie Raby Wylie; brothers, Patrick, Cart, and Hubert Wylie; and sisters, Lenora Davis. Survivors include his caregivers, Otie Lee and Kay Wylie, LaFollette, Tenn., grandson, Michael Hill; and several nieces, nephews, and host of family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Reece Valley Chapel with the Rev. Woodrow Gilbert presiding. Music will be provided by Stanley Parton, Bo Mayes, and Howard Warwick. Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Yoakum Cemetery. Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home and Valley Chapel, 869-8811, 869-3651, or 626-4249.
