George W. Yoakum was born in October 1833 at Tennessee. He was the son of Peter Yoakum and Sarah Stinnett. George W. Yoakum married Juliette M. Cooper, daughter of John L. Cooper and Sarah Copeland, circa 1853. George W. Yoakum died on 27 August 1888 at Pulaski County, Illinois, at age 54 years and 10 months. He was buried in the Yoakum-Waters Cemetery, located in Pulaski County, Illinois.
