Archie B. Young was born on 6 September 1921 at Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.3,4 He was the son of Austin George Young and Ella V. Reeder.5 Archie B. Young married, at age 18, Lois Nellie Pepperman, daughter of Harry Mortimer Pepperman and Nellie Emma Hayes, on Friday, 17 May 1940.4 Archie B. Young died on 26 August 2007 at Williamsport Home, Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 85 years, 11 months and 20 days.4
His obituary was published on 28 August 2007 in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. His obituary stated:
Archie B. Young, 85, of 1900 Ravine Road, Williamsport, and formerly of Penn Street, passed away Sunday, August 26, 2007 at the Williamsport Home.
He was born Sept. 6, 1921 in Williamsport a son of Austin G. and Ella Reeder Young.
Archie retired from Koser Electric in South Williamsport where he worked as an Electrical Construction Supervisor, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp having served during WW II.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Williamsport; the National American Legion, the John F. Laedlein Lodge #707 F & A.M., in Williamsport where he was Past Master and the recipient of the Grand Master’s Award in 1984, and was also a member of the Williamsport Consistory.
On May 17 he celebrated his 67th wedding anniversary with his wife, the former Lois N. Pepperman.
Surviving in addition to his wife are four sons, James A. (Charm) Young of Montoursville, William A. (Ruth) Young of Williamsport, John R. (Connie) Young of Montoursville, and Edwin R. (Merlene) Young, also of Montoursville; a brother, Charles Young of Muncy; six sisters, Ruby Montague of Montoursville, Clema Klopp of Cogan Station, Gloria Hertz of Mechanicsburg, Evelyn Huntsinger of Mechanicsburg, Alice Lee of Boise, Idaho, and Stella Coles of Prattville, Alabama; 13 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a brother, James A., and a great granddaughter, Elizabeth R. Young.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, August 31, at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 912 Almond St., Williamsport, PA 17701 with the Rev. S. Shellman Baer officiating. A Masonic service will be held immediately following the service in the church. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Friends will be received on Friday from 10 – 11 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the church. Arrangements are by Spitler Funeral Home, Montoursville.4
