Clair I. Dickey Jr. was born on 10 July 1923 at Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1,2 He was the son of Clair I. Dickey and Hazel K. Moore.2 Clair I. Dickey Jr. married, at age 24, Anna Jean Hornberger, daughter of Edward Ludwig Hornberger and Grace Ethel Dauber, on Saturday, 6 September 1947.2 Clair I. Dickey Jr. died on 1 January 2004 at Williamsport Hospital, Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 80 years, 5 months and 22 days.1,2 He was buried on 5 January 2004 in the Saint Michael's Lutheran Church Cemetery, located in Quiggleville, Lycoming Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. The funeral service was officiated by Reverend Detlef Huckfeldt.2

Clair retired in 1986 after 32 years at Avco. He served with the Ninth Special U.S. Naval Construction Battalion of the Navy Seabees during World War II. He was an active member of St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Quiggleville, a 1947 graduate of Hepburnville High School, a life member of VFW Post 7863 Duboistown, a member of the Antlers Country Club and the Williamsport Moose Lodge, and he enjoyed hunting, woodworking and masonry.

Surviving besides his wife are daughters, Barbara A. Most of Trout Run, Sandra J. (Steve Barnes) Carnevale of Linden, Becky M. (Michael) Hedgcock of Montoursville and Denise I. (Keith) Stryker of Cogan Station; a son, Drew E. (Jennifer) Dickey of Cogan Station; a brother, Robert G. of Cogan Station; a sister, Jane Evans of Columbia Cross Roads; grandchildren, Barry, Shannon, Lauren, Emma, Cam and Alec Dickey, Abe and Ali Hedgcock, Britt and Trevor Stryker, Jason Bowen, Vanessa Durham, Claire and Tyler Most, Tait and Ross Carnevale and six great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son and daughter-in-law, Douglas C. and Deborah A. Dickey.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the church, with the Rev. Detlef Huckfeldt officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Knight-Confer’s, 1914 Memorial Ave. The family will provide the flowers and suggests donations to the church, 1877 St. Michael’s Road, Cogan Station, PA 17728, or the charity of the donor’s choice.2
