     Mable Josephine Hornberger was born on 4 February 1921 at Cogan Station, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1,2 She was the daughter of Edward Ludwig Hornberger and Grace Ethel Dauber.2 Mable Josephine Hornberger married, at age 25, Edgar E. Bower, age 25, son of George L. Bower and Laura Mae Burr, on Saturday, 23 February 1946.2 Mable Josephine Hornberger died on 16 April 2003 at 3076 Route 973 East, Cogan Station, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 82 years, 2 months and 12 days.1,2 She was buried on 19 April 2003 in the Saint Michael's Lutheran Church Cemetery, located in Quiggleville, Lycoming Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. The funeral service was officiated by Reverend James R. Sunderland.2
     Her obituary was published on 17 April 2003 in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Her obituary stated:

     Josephine H. Bower, 82, of 3076 Route 973 East, Cogan Station, died Wednesday, April 16, 2003, at her home. She and her husband, Edgar E., observed their 57th wedding anniversary on Feb. 23.

She was a member of the Balls Mills U.M. Church, its United Methodist Women, and St. Michael’s Lutheran Church Women of ELCA. She enjoyed gardening and retired as an office worker from the former Armour Leather Co. and the Avco Credit Union.

Born Feb. 4, 1921, in Cogan Station, she was a daughter of Edward L. and G. Ethel Dauber Hornberger.

Surviving besides her husband are daughters Marcia L. Bower of Bradford and Ava B. Geddes of Morgan Hill, Calif; brothers Edward J. and Clyde A. Hornberger, both of Cogan Station; and sisters Marian E. Webster, A. Jean Dickey and Mildred E. Bartley, all of Cogan Station, and Carolyn L. Eckert and Regina M. Gross, both of Williamsport.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Knight-Confer Funeral Home, 1914 Memorial Ave., with the Rev. James R. Sunderland Jr., her pastor, officiating. There will be a visitation from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Michael’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, Lycoming Twp.2
