Mary Virginia Cobb was born on 11 February 1866 at Montgomery County, Missouri. She was the daughter of James Richard Cobb and Frances Gertrude Estill. Mary Virginia Cobb first married, at age 20, George Washington Richardson, age 29 on Sunday, 23 January 1887 at Washington County, Arkansas. Mary Virginia Cobb married a second time, at age 25, Boyd Patterson Richardson, age 23 on Sunday, 16 August 1891. Mary Virginia Cobb died on 19 February 1937 at Washington County, Arkansas, at age 71 years and 8 days.
She was widowed at age 23 by the death of George on 3 July 1889.
