Gladys H. Jarrett was born on 25 April 1916 at Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan.2 She was the daughter of Lewis Franklin Jarrett and Esther Clara Sholder.1 Gladys H. Jarrett married, at age 24, William Charles McKenna, age 26, son of Lester McKenna and Mary Thackery, on Wednesday, 19 June 1940 at Watervliet, Albany County, New York. Gladys H. Jarrett died on 26 November 2000 at Averill Park, Rensselaer County, New York, at age 84 years, 7 months and 1 day.2
Gladys notes that the doctor that delivered her recorded her birth as being a boy. It wasn't until she was married and had two children that they realized that there had been a mistake in her birth record. She appeared on the census of 20 January 1920 in the household of Lewis Franklin Jarrett and Esther Clara Sholder at Old Lycoming Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Gladys Jarrett McKenna said, 'that when she was a little girl her grandfather caught her and her brothers throwing stones.' He told them that his brother Perry died after being hit with a stone. Gladys H. Jarrett appeared on the census of 10 April 1930 in the household of Lewis Franklin Jarrett and Esther Clara Sholder at Albany, 18th Ward, Albany County, New York. As of 1999, Gladys H. Jarrett lived in Mesa, Maricopa County, Arizona.1
