     Buckner Stuart Morris was born on 7 January 1922 at Charleston, Kanawha County, West Virginia. He was the son of Donnally Hamilton Morris and Anne Byrne. Buckner Stuart Morris died on 16 June 1999 at Chattanooga, Hamilton County, Tennessee, at age 77 years, 5 months and 9 days. He was buried in the Chattanooga National Cemetery, located in Hamilton County, Tennessee.

BUCKNER S. MORRIS

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Buckner Stuart Morris, of Chattanooga, formerly of Charleston, W.Va., died June 16, 1999, in Chattanooga.

He was a retired senior vice president and general counsel for Provident Life and Accident Insurance Agency, Chattanooga, with 36 years of service.

After his retirement, he served as counsel with the law firm of Spears, Moore, Rebman and Williams. He was a member of the Chattanooga Bar Association and the American Bar Association, American Life Convention, Life Insurance Association Joint Committee on State Taxation of Insurance Companies, the Life Insurance Committee of the American Bar Association and
the Mountain City Club. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Charleston.

He was a direct descendant of William Morris, the first permanent settler in the Kanawha Valley of Virginia, now West Virginia, and a graduate of West Virginia University and the University of Virginia. He was an Army staff sergeant in World War II. He served in the 45th Infantry in Europe and Africa, and was a recipient of the Purple Heart with two clusters.

Surviving: brothers, Donnally of St. Albans, W.Va., Robert of Charleston; three nieces; two nephews.

Graveside service was Friday in Chattanooga National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or to American Heart Association. Wann Funeral Home, Chattanooga, is in charge of arrangements.
