     Otto VanBever was born on 17 June 1923 at Colmar, Bell County, Kentucky. He was the son of James Boyd VanBever and Nevada Pittman. Otto VanBever married Larue Smith, daughter of Emmanuel Smith and Georgia King, circa 1945.1 Otto VanBever married Mary Winston circa 1999.1 Otto VanBever died on 13 August 2000 at Baptist Hospital, Knoxville, Knox County, Tennessee, at age 77 years, 1 month and 27 days. He was buried on 16 August 2000 in the VanBever Cemetery, located in Speedwell, Claiborne County, Tennessee.

Rev. Otto VAN BEVER, 77 SPEEDWELL, Tenn. ----- Rev. Otto VanBever, 77, passed away Sunday, Aug 13, 2000, at Baptist Hospital, Knoxville, Tenn., after an extended illness.

He was born June 17, 1923, at Colmar, (BELL County, Kentucky), a son of the late James B. and Nevada (PITTMAN) VAN BEVER. He was ordained a minister on Aug 13, 1960, and was a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church at Speedwell. A long time employee of Middlesboro Coca Cola (Bell County, KY), he retired from the company in 1989. He also enjoyed farming at his home and squirrel hunting.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, LaRue (SMITH) VAN BEVER; a daughter, Georgia (VAN BEVER) SMITH; a brother, Lee Oris VAN BEVER; and a sister, Gracie HURST SIEBER.

Survivors include his wife, Mary (WINSTON) VAN BEVER; sons, William Theodore VAN BEVER, Marion O. (M.O.) VAN BEVER, all of Speedwell; daughters, Betty L. (VAN BEVER) STACY, Harrogate, Tenn., and Kara Edwina (VAN BEVER) and husband, Ira INMAN, Speedwell; stepson, and daughter-in-law, John B. and Sarah LANE, Middlesboro; stepdaughter and husband, Barbara and Donald PARTIN, Rose Hill, VA; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and three step-grandchildren; sister, Edith (VAN BEVER) JANEWAY, Middlesboro, KY; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday (Aug 16, 2000), at REECE Funeral Home and Valley Chapel with the Revs. Bill POORE and Mark A. FULTZ presiding. Music will be provided by the Visionaires.

Burial will be in the VAN BEVER Family Cemetery at Speedwell (Claiborne County) Tennessee. Pallbearers will be Anthony VAN BEVER, Michael PRICE, Ira and Christopher INMAN, Luke OSBORNE, Tony TAYLOR, Marion O. VAN BEVER II., and Joseph VAN BEVER. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ralph and Bradley CARROLL, Mark RUSSELL, Tim EDWARDS, Jerry and Joe AUSMUS, Walter MULLINS, Jeff McGEORGE, Doug MICHAEL, Neil BARRY II., Dr. Neil BARRY III., Kenneth WILSON, Joe MOYERS, Dick NEVILS, Dr. George DAY, Arthur RUSSELL, Ken CRIDER, Curt HUNLEY, and all of his grnadchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 6-9 p.m. today (Tuesday Aug 15) and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, at REECE Funeral Home and Valley Chapel.
