Charles Frederick Yoakum was born on 15 November 1917 at Cowgill, Caldwell County, Missouri. He was the son of Frederick Henry Yoakum and Vennie Sackman. Charles Frederick Yoakum first married, at age 19, Stella Gae Rone on Saturday, 18 September 1937 at Ray County, Missouri. Charles Frederick Yoakum married a second time, at age 35, Mary Eva Gibbs, age 36 on Saturday, 5 September 1953 at Missouri. Charles Frederick Yoakum died on 25 April 1992 at Independence, Jackson County, Missouri, at age 74 years, 5 months and 10 days. He was buried in the Cowgill Cemetery, located in Cowgill, Caldwell County, Missouri.

Charles Fredrick 'Pappy' Yoakum, 74, Independence, died April 25, 1992, at the home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Cowgill (Mo.) Baptist Church; burial in the Cowgill Cemetery. Friends may call after 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Lindley Chapel, Braymer, Mo. The family suggests contributions to the Fraas-Fain post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mr. Yoakum was born in Cowgill, and lived in Independence most of his life. He worked for Natkin Heating and Air Conditioning before he retired. He was a 50-year member of Local 533 of the Pipe Fitters Association. He was a member of New Salem Baptist Church and a past member of the Cowgill Baptist Church. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Fraas-Fain post of the VFW.
Survivors include his wife, Mary E. Gibbs Yoakum, Independence; a daughter, Joyce Ann Dickey, Kansas City; his stepmother, Nelle Yoakum, Braymer; and a stepsister, Betty Nichols, Chicago; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
