Yoakum married, at age 28, Mary Lynn Middleton on Saturday, 1 September 1973. Robert P. Yoakum died on 6 January 1997 at Liberty Hospital, Richmond, Ray County, Missouri, at age 52 years, 2 months and 24 days. He was buried on 9 January 1997 in the South Point Cemetery, located in Orrick, Ray County, Missouri.

Robert P. Yoakum, 52, Liberty, MO, (formerly of Richmond, MO) died at 10:22 a.m. Monday, January 6, 1997, at the Liberty Hospital, Liberty, MO. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, January 9, at Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond, MO; burial in South Point Cemetery, Orrick, MO, where military graveside services will be held.

Visitation will be 7-8 p.m. Wednesday, January 8, at Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Robert P. Yoakum Memorial Fund, in care of Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond, MO.

Mr. Yoakum was born October 13, 1944, in Knoxville, MO, to Millard Harlow and Grace M. (West) Yoakum. He married Mary Lynn Middleton of Camden MO, September 1, 1973; she survives of the home. Other survivors include one son, Douglas R. Yoakum, of the home; one daughter, Marcie A. Yoakum, of the home; one brother, Donald Ray Yoakum, Osceola, MO; one sister, Fern Still, Richmond, MO; and one granddaughter, Elle Yoakum, St. Petersburg, FL. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Joshua M. Yoakum.

Mr. Yoakum owned and operated Quick Silver Trucking, Inc. for 25 years before retiring. He was a 1962 Richmond High School graduate. He had lived in Knoxville, MO, Richmond, MO, and Liberty, MO. He played semi-pro football for the Kansas City Steers. He had coached Little League Football for 14 years. He was a member of the Christian Union Church in Richmond, MO.
