Clyde Claiborne was born on 14 September 1910. He was the son of Don C. Claiborne and Birdie Ethel Bartley. Clyde Claiborne married Edith P. Brown circa 1933. Clyde Claiborne died on 10 August 1999 at La Follette, Campbell County, Tennessee, at age 88 years, 10 months and 27 days.
He appeared on the census of 28 January 1920 in the household of Don C. Claiborne and Birdie Ethel Bartley at Civil District 1, Campbell County, Tennessee. His obituary was published on 11 August 1999 in the The Knoxville News-Sentinel, printed in Knoxville, Knox County, Tennessee. His obituary stated:
CLAIBORNE, CLYDE - age 88 of Rt. 1 LaFollette passed away Tuesday morning, August 10, 1999 at his home. Mr. Claiborne was a member of Forks Grove Baptist Church. He retired after 50 years of service as a school bus driver for Campbell County Schools. After retirement, he worked for the Campbell County Convenience Center, located in the Well Springs community where he also worked his farmland.
Mr. Claiborne enjoyed being with people. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and loved spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Brown Claiborne; parents, Don and Birdie Bartley Claiborne; brothers, Frank, Everett, and Lawrence Claiborne; sisters, Mae Green and Zelma Ivey. He is survived by: sons and daughters-in-law, Bill D. and Virginia Claiborne of Speedwell and Bobby C. and Geneva Claiborne of LaFollette; daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Bill Leach also of LaFollette; 7 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, Hugh and Ray Claiborne, both of LaFollette; sister, Ollie Heatherly of Jacksboro; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services 10:00 am. Friday August 13, 1999 in the Chapel of Martin Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Poston officiating. Interment will follow in Fincastle Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 12, 1999 at Martin Funeral Home. Martin Funeral Home of LaFollette in charge of arrangements.
