Lucy Valerie Todd was born on 16 December 1924 at Oswalt, Love County, Oklahoma. She married, at age 19, Elmer Burl VanBebber, age 32, son of Burt Elmer VanBebber and Pearl Hinson, on Saturday, 18 November 1944 at San Leandro, Alameda County, California. Lucy Valerie Todd died on 19 April 2000 at Duncan, Stephens County, Oklahoma, at age 75 years, 4 months and 3 days. She was buried on 22 April 2000 in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens, located in Duncan, Stephens County, Oklahoma.
She Valerie Vanbebber, 75, of Duncan died Wednesday, April 19, 2000, in Duncan. Service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tracy Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Vanbebber was born Dec. 16, 1924, in Oswalt to James Albert and Abbie Birdwell Todd. She married E.B. 'Van' Vanbebber on Nov. 18, 1944, in San Leandro, Calif., and he preceded her in death on Aug. 26, 1990.
She was a longtime area grocer and co-owner of Vans Food Market for 32 years. She also owned Vans E-Z Shop in Marlow for four years. She worked at Martin's Mini-Mart and continued to work there when her son, Jack, bought the store and changed the name to Vans Grocery in November of 1999.
She was a member of the Christian Church.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Kaye Foster of Duncan and Lana and Mike Woods of Euless, Texas; a son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Mindy Vanbebber of Duncan; a sister, Neva Mossman of Stockton, Calif; seven grandchildren, Shaa Pollock, Lana Harris, Todd Woods, Kacie Woods, Ashley Woods, Ty Vanbebber and J.C. Reeves; and a great-grandchild, Logan Harris.
Bearers will be Larry Martin, Nick Jackson, Rick March, James Harris, Rodney Pollock and Mike Woods. Honorary bearers are Todd Woods, Ty Vanbebber and J.C. Reeves.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
