John Calvin VanBever was born on 3 October 1868 at Josh Bell County, Kentucky. He was the son of James VanBever and Mary A. Robbins. John Calvin VanBever married, at age 19, Mariah Jane Hall, age 17, daughter of R. Hall and Martha Leaths, on Thursday, 5 January 1888 at Knox County, Kentucky. John Calvin VanBever died on 9 December 1960 at Knox County, Kentucky, at age 92 years, 2 months and 6 days. He was buried in the Golden Cemetery, located in Barbourville, Knox County, Kentucky.
