Melvin A. Goldy III

Melvin A. Goldy III was born on 31 March 1943. He was the son of Melvin A. Goldy Jr. and Mildred L. May. Melvin A. Goldy III married Judy Spotts, daughter of L. Emerson Spotts and Dorothy Maneval, circa 1965. Melvin A. Goldy III died on 9 March 2008 at age 64 years, 11 months and 9 days.
His obituary was published on 10 March 2008 in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. His obituary stated:
Melvin A. Goldy III, 64, of 1190 Grimesville Road, died Sunday, March 9, 2008 at his home. Mel and his wife, the former Nancy L. Wertz, celebrated their 17th anniversary on Aug. 4, 2007.
Mel owned and operated Winner Hardware until retiring in March of 2004. Prior to that, he worked as a machine design engineer. He graduated in 1967 from Lycoming College, was a licensed Glider pilot, a member of the Experimental Aircraft Assoc. and the Soaring Society of America. A railroad enthusiast, he was a member of the National Railway Historical Society, the North American Railcar Operators Assoc. and the Train Collectors Assoc.
Mel enjoyed motorcycle and railcar riding, remote control airplanes and maintaining his apple trees and blueberry bushes and sharing the results of his labors with his friends and family.
Born March 31, 1943 in Williamsport, he was the son of Melvin A. Jr. and Mildred L. May Goldy.
Surviving besides his wife are his daughters, Lisa G. Kearns of Oak Hill, Va., and Tracy A. Kahn of Williamsport; a stepson, Phillip M. Cook of Cumming, Ga; a stepdaughter, Cassandra K. Cenko of Middletown; a sister, Susan M. Hutchings of Hershey and eight grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Knight-Confer's, 1914 Memorial Ave., with the Rev. William J. Younger officiating. Interment will be in Wildwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday. The family will provide the flowers and suggests donations to the Toy's for Tot's, c/o TFT coordinator, Charles E. Smith, 2001 New Lawn Ave., Williamsport, PA 17701.1
