John Jennings Schon was born on 2 April 1906 at Balls Mills, Hepburn Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1 He was the son of Charles Edward Schon and Sarah Elma Winder. John Jennings Schon married, at age 30, Regina Elizabeth Ulmer, age 25, daughter of Arthur Walter Ulmer and Mary Elizabeth Waltz, on Wednesday, 25 November 1936. John Jennings Schon and Regina Elizabeth Ulmer have also been reported to have been married 25 November 1937. John Jennings Schon died on 11 March 2000 at Manor Care Health Center, Jersey Shore, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 93 years, 11 months and 9 days.1 He was buried in the Blooming Grove Cemetery, located in Hepburn Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.
His obituary was published on 13 March 2000 in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. His obituary stated:
COGAN STATION - John J. Schon, 93, formerly of Cogan Station died Saturday, March 11, 2000 in Manor Care South, where he lived for four years. He and his wife, Regina E. Ulmer Schon, celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary Nov. 25. He was a farmer in Heburn Township. He was a member of Hepburn Baptist Church, Cogan Station. He was a member of Lycova Grange 2006.
Born April 2, 1906 in Cogan Station, he was a son of Edward and Sarah Winder Schon. Surviving, besides his wife, are four sons, John A., Cecil E., Clair L. and Clyde W., all of Cogan Station; a daughter, Thelma E. Houseknecht of Montgomery; a sister, Edna Reeder of Montoursville; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the church, 2917 Pleasant Valley Road, with his pastor, the Rev. Mark Mahserjiah-Smith, officiating. Burial will be in Blooming Grove Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at Spitler's, 733 Broad St., Montoursville, from 7 to 9 tonight.
