Harmenken DeHaven

     Harmenken DeHaven was born in July 1682 at Menden, Duchy of Westphalia. He was the son of Evert ten Heuven and Leisbeth Shippbouhr. Harmenken DeHaven married, at age 27, Anneken Op Den Graeff, daughter of Abraham Isaacs Op Den Graeff and Trijntje Jansen, on Thursday, 6 February 1710 at Wymes, White Marsh Township, Philadelphia County, Province of Pennsylvania, America.¹ Harmenken DeHaven died in April 1752 at Philadelphia County, Province of Pennsylvania, America, at age 69 years and 9 months. He was buried in the Mennonite Cemetery, located in Skippack, Perk Township, Philadelphia County, Province of Pennsylvania, America.
     Lived in Providence Township, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Herman and Gerhard bought 440 acres along Shippack Creek in 1706. Later Herman moved to New Providence near Evansburg and bought 200 acres. He built a saw mill and grist mill. He also kept an ordinary or inn. He was granted a license for the inn in 1734. Herman died in 1752 and is buried in the Mennonite Cemetary, Shippack. Burial note location is given in Pennypacker as "the Mennonite graveyard on the Skippack near Evansburg."

Herman (Harmon) Dehaven was a son of Evert and Elizabeth (Shipbower) ten Heuven. He came to America from Mülheim on the Rühr, (in present day) Germany in 1698. On February 6 1710 / 1711 he was married, at Wytmess, to Anneken op de Graef. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Van Vleoq. Annekin was a daughter of Abraham Isaac op de Graef. Herman took his oath of allegiance with his father and brothers in 1709. He and Gerhart bought 440 acres of land on the Skippack Creek in 1706.

Herman and his wife Ann along with Gerhard and his wife Mary, conveyed 200 acres at the upper end of their 440 acre tract to Peter Janson, May 2, 1723. Herman and his family then moved to New Providence, where he was living in 1734 on a 200 acre tract. Abraham's family was associated with the old Trappe Evangelical Lutheran Church.
