Francis Marion Owens was born on 4 June 1846 at Sangamon County, Illinois. He was the son of George W. Owens and Minerva Jane Staley. Francis Marion Owens married, at age 21, Zilla Maranda Jackson, age 17, daughter of Brice Bradley Jackson and Mary Haggard, on Sunday, 8 March 1868 at Scottville, Macoupin County, Illinois. Francis Marion Owens died on 27 November 1921 at Harper County, Oklahoma, at age 75 years, 5 months and 23 days.
