Lloyd Fae Phelps

Lloyd Fae Phelps was born on 8 October 1923 at Montpelier, Bear Lake County, Idaho. He was the son of Willmer C. Phelps and Minnie L. [—?—] Lloyd Fae Phelps married, at age 22, Doris Vivian Koeneman, daughter of Carl Joseph Koeneman and Gladys Ione Havlick, on Sunday, 23 June 1946 at Butte, Silver Bow County, Montana. Lloyd Fae Phelps died on 6 April 2002 at age 78 years, 5 months and 29 days.

Having lived this life to the fullest, the loving and gentle spirit of Lloyd Fae Phelps began a new journey on Saturday, April 6, 2002. Lloyd will be remembered for his respect and reverence for nature and the peace and solitude it brought to him. His life was distinguished by his devotion for his family and he found great joy watching each member mature and develop. Each of his grandchildren, as well, had a special spot in his heart and he had great pride in all of their accomplishments. Camaraderie of friends, his zest for story telling and his love for the outdoors filled his life. He was a gifted artisan whose creative inspiration came from seeing life itself and who received personal fulfillment from teaching and helping of others.
Lloyd was born October 8, 1923, in Montpelier, Idaho, to Willmer and Minnie Phelps. Following high school graduation in Montpelier, Lloyd joined the Navy in 1943 where he served in World War II as a Radarman 3rd Class. Following discharge, he met and married Doris Vivian Koeneman on June 23, 1946, at Butte, Montana. During the following years, they resided in Pocatello, Montpelier, Conda, Soda Springs and Butte, Montana. Lloyd worked in the mining industry until he retired in 1986 as mill superintendent with the Simplot Company in Soda Springs. He and his wife moved to Idaho Falls in 1997.
Lloyd leaves behind a loving family: his wife Doris; daughter Shauna (Robert) Berg of Idaho Falls; two sons, Larry (Kris) Phelps and Kerry (Becky) Phelps of Pocatello; and daughter-in-law Penny Phelps of Idaho Falls; two brothers, Richard Phelps of Maryville, Tennessee, and Jerry (Mildred) Phelps of Garden City, Utah; eight grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Jerry Michael Phelps.
His life will be celebrated in a private grave side family service on Tuesday, April 9, in Idaho Falls. In lieu of flowers the immediate family suggests that friends contribute memorials to a charity of their choice.
