George Yoakum was born on 23 February 1809 at Claiborne County, Mississippi. He was the son of Valentine Feltz Yoakum and Charlotte Reynolds. George Yoakum married Sarah S. [—?—] (w/George Yoakum) circa 1832. George Yoakum died on 18 February 1883 at Benton Township, Linn County, Missouri, at age 73 years, 11 months and 26 days.
He became a widower at the age of 72 with the death of Sarah on 18 September 1881.
