Matthias ('Tice') Van Bibber, son of Isaac Michael, was born at Wolf Creek Fort, Botetourt County, Virginia and died in Nicholas County, Virginia. His wife was born in Virginia and died in Nicholas County as well. They married in Kanawha Count, Virginia.

Matthias was friends with famous frontiersman Daniel Boone and named one of his children after him. He went with Boone to Missouri but soon returned east. Matthias uncle, Peter, was appointed guardian of Matthias, along with some of Isaacs' oter children, on 24 Nov 1774, after Isaac died at the battle of Point Pleasant on 10 Oct 1774. Some researchers believe that Peter was the genetic father of Matthias. Also, some researchers believe Matthias wife, Margaret to be the daughter of David Robinson and Miriam Hamilton.

Matthias sons were well-known citizens of Nicholas County. Matthias is buried on the old Van Bibber farm, now owned by the heirs of Frank Grose, in Nicholas County.
