George W. Roller

     George W. Roller was born on 27 September 1828 at Maulbronn, Oberamt Maulbronn, Neckarkreis, Württemberg.1,2 He was the son of Jacob Roller and Catherine Bogert. George W. Roller married Susannah Grove, daughter of John Grove and Margaret [—?—], circa 1854. George W. Roller died on 20 February 1912 at age 83 years, 4 months and 24 days.2 He was buried in the Buchanan Baptist Church Cemetery, located in Old Lycoming Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.2
     He emigrated with Jacob Roller and Catherine Bogert in 1839 from Maulbronn, Oberamt Maulbronn, Neckarkreis, Württemberg, to America. George W. Roller appeared on the census of 17 September 1850 in the household of Jacob Roller and Catherine Bogert at Lycoming Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. George W. Roller was a carpenter. He and Susannah Grove appeared on the census of 28 June 1870 at Lycoming Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. From 'History of Lycoming County, Pennsylvania', by John F. Meginness, 1892.

George is the second son of Jacob Roller, being born in Germany he settled in Lycoming County with his parents. He grew to manhood under the parental roof, and learned the carpenter trade, which he has engaged at in connection with farming for many years. George is a member of the Lutheran faith, and is independent in politics. Mr. Roller joined Company A, One Hundred and Seventy-seventh Pennsylvania Volunteers, in October of 1862, and served until August 5th of 1863.
