Capt. Sam'l. Boone says several years ago he visited Maj. Isaac VanBibber's children -- & found the record of Mrs. Elizabeth VanBibber's birth & sent it to me -- he thinks she was born in June 1776, at Boonesborough, KY -- & her sister Jemima born in 1778, who married James Davis. Thinks from what informant has heard speak of Maj. Isaac VanBibber's services -- that he was active, was on Dodge's expedition up the Missouri, and took a parcel of prisoners. VanBibber commanded as Capt. or Major, & some of his men wanted to shoot the Indians -- & Dodge threatened to shoot him & VanBibber said if he did so he 'would give him a crossfire' in return. So Boone Hays used to relate -- who was out on the expedition. Capt Boone thinks, after all, what is here said of VanBibber may mostly apply to ??shal Cooper -- but as Cooper had lived at Loutre Settlement & was well known to VanBibber, very likely VanBibber's feelings were with Cooper, & threatened the crossfire on Dodge.
