John Herd Sharp was born on 10 February 1870 at Claiborne County, Tennessee.1 He was the son of Isaac James Sharp and Mary Ann McBee.1 John Herd Sharp married Mary E. Needham in 1897.1 John Herd Sharp died in 1925 at Texas at age 54 years.1
John Herd Sharp was killed in Texas in 1925 doing police work according to one researcher and Dad's recollections from conversations with Mamaw, Emily Cleva Sharp Bartlett. However, Uncle Jude (Eugene) said he was killed in Oklahoma City. I did find that John was working as a Policeman in the 1920 census in Oklahoma City, OK. I continue to search for the location of his death. Dad said that he was ambushed and shot in the back. I hope to find a news article or other documentation concerning his death. (Barb Thomas.)
