CHURCHILL, SUDIE P. - age 86, passed away January 28, 2010 at St. Mary's Residential Hospice. She was born February 3, 1923 and received Christ at an early age. Sudie was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Melvin J. Churchill, Sr; daughter, Sonia Parsons Biggs; parents, Chester and Lula Poore; sister, Zelphia Poore Hill; brothers, Joseph L. Poore and Alvis E. Poore; grandson, Robert Poss.
She is survived by her son, Melvin J. "Jimmy" Churchill, Jr. and wife, Carolyn, of Georgia; daughter, Linda Houston, of Georgia; sisters, Gladys Fergerson, of Harrogate, Nevada; Hype, of Tazewell; brothers, Ray Poore and wife, Ruby, of Harrogate, Beverly Poore and wife, Lorena, of Lafeyette, Indiana; sister-in-law Bettey Poore, of Indiana; grandchildren, Dana Treanor and husband, David, of Nolensville, Tennessee, Tommy Churchill and wife, Lindsey, of Atlanta, Georgia, Donna Downing, of Georgia, Dawn Adams and husband, Robert, of Johns Creek, Georgia; several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; and a special thanks to her next door neighbors, who helped get Sudie to her doctor's office and to the grocery store, Donna and Dot.
Family and friends will gather on Saturday at 10:45 AM at Woodhaven Cemetery for an 11:00 am graveside service with Dr. Alan Smith officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday from 5:00 - 8:00 PM at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel. Online condolences may be left at www.rosemortuary.com.
