David Edward Young married, at age 28, Marjorie Rae Bardo on Thursday, 18 February 1943 at Saint John's Lutheran Church, Jersey Shore, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.3 David Edward Young died on 22 July 2001 at age 87 years, 4 months and 12 days.1,3 He was buried on 25 July 2001 in the Jersey Shore Cemetery, located in Jersey Shore, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.3
His obituary was published on 24 July 2001 in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. His obituary stated:
David E. Young, age 87, of 484 Martins Rd., Linden, Pa., died Sunday at Manor Care in Jersey Shore where he had been a guest 2 days. He was born in Cement Hollow, Piatt Township, Lycoming County, March 10, 1914 a son of Edgar James and Sarah Rebbecca Blair Young. He married the former M. Rae Bardo on February 18, 1943 in St. John's Lutheran Church, Jersey Shore and she survives.
He was a sergeant in the Army during WWII, serving with the 82nd Chemical War Battalion in the Pacific Theater. He was a carpenter for Miller Construction Company of Jersey Shore and Lundy's of Williamsport. He worked on the Williamsport High School project and the Lycoming County Mall project. He was a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 617 Williamsport, Jersey Shore Loyal Order of Moose, Carpenters Union Local 691, and formerly Waterville CCC Camp #129. He enjoyed wood working and hunting when he was younger.
Besides his wife he is survived by 1 daughter, Barbara R. Weaver of Linden; 2 sisters, Mary Catherine Horn of Linden and Eleanor Connor of Bradford; 2 granddaughters, Amanda Watkins of Charlotte N.C. and Sara Anderson, Williamsport and 2 great grandchildren, Zachery Anderson and Lauren Watkins.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday from Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home, 1002 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore with her pastor Rev. Thomas Fetterolf officiating. Burial in Jersey Shore Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from noon to 1 p.m. Contributions may be made to the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, 366 Main St., Salladasburg, PA 17740.3 According to the Social Security Administrations Death Index David's last known residence was Linden, Woodward Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1
