William Stephen Kern was born on 18 March 1946 at Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.2,1 He was the son of William Francis Kern and Vivian Lois Sholder.1 William Stephen Kern was baptized in 1946 at Bethel United Presbyterian Church, Bottle Run, Old Lycoming Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. He married, at age 22, Marilyn Cornelius, daughter of Lloyd Emory Cornelius and Margaret Mary Mathias, on Saturday, 1 June 1968 at Pine Street United Methodist Church, Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1 William Stephen Kern died on 18 July 1998 at Williamsport Hospital, Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 52 years and 4 months.2,1,3 He was buried on 23 July 1998 in section 13, site 851, in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, located in Annville, Lebanon County, Pennsylvania. The funeral service was officiated by Reverend Thomas H. Jacobs.1 A memorial service for William Stephen Kern was held in the Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, on 22 July 1998 with Reverend Thomas H. Jacobs officiating.1

His obituary stated:
W. Stephen Kern, 52, of 326 Louisa Street died Saturday, July 18, 1998, in Williamsport Hospital after a brief illness.
He and his wife, the former Marilyn Cornelius, observed their 30th wedding anniversary on June 1st.
An information technology consultant, he worked for Drexel Technical Associates at Highmark, Inc., Camp Hill. He was a member of Pine Street United Methodist Church. He graduated from Loyalsock Township High School and Harrisburg Area Community College and attended Penn State University. He was an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War.

Surviving, besides his wife, and his parents of Jensen Beach, FL, are a daughter, Amalie Sue, and a sister Jeanine G., both of Orlando, FL and a brother, R. Scott of this city.
