Edward P. Schweikart married Gladys Cohick, daughter of Lloyd Montgomery Cohick and Sarah Emma Confair.
His obituary was published on 14 November 2006 in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. His obituary stated:
Edward P. Schweikart, 70, of Level Corners, Linden, died Sunday, November 12, 2006, in the Jersey Shore Hospital.
He was born September 4, 1936, in Old Lycoming Twp., the son of Edward P. Sr. and Marion Doebler Schweikart.
Ed was married in El Paso on July 29, 1957 to the former Gladys Cohick.
He was a member of the Lycoming Christian Church. Ed was an U.S. Army veteran. Early in life he was employed by The Newberry Tannery and AVCO of Williamsport during the mid 60’s. Ed was the owner and operator of Ed’s Garage in Level Corners, through out the area he was especially known as a Chrysler mechanic. He enjoyed all forms of auto racing. He retired in 1979 from Drag Racing, usually at Beaver Springs and York U.S. 30. He was one of the forerunners of Division One E.T. Racing. Ed was a member of the Jersey Shore L.O.O.M. and American Legion.
Surviving besides his wife of 49 years are two sons, Dale E. (Kelly) and Jeff L. (Kim) both of Jersey Shore; three sisters, Evelyn Billman of Louisiana, Susan Feist of Nesbitt, Carol Retorick of Montoursville; Three grandchildren, Rebecca, Allison and Dakota. He was predeceased by two sisters, Katie Carr and Marion Grove.
Friends and relatives are invited to Ed’s Life Celebration service 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home, Ltd. “A Life Celebration Home” 1002 Allegheny St. Jersey Shore with Pastor Thomas Denney officiating. A visitation will be from 7 until 9 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Woodward Township cemetery. Family will provide the flowers.
