Alice Emily Smithgall1

     Alice Emily Smithgall was born on 18 March 1866 at Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1 She was the daughter of David C. Smithgall and Sarah C. Myers.1 Alice Emily Smithgall first married, at age 20, William Sholder, age 24, son of Christian Sholder and Leah Sechrist, on Thursday, 30 December 1886 at Loyalsock Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Alice Emily Smithgall married a second time William C. Allen circa 1900.1 Alice Emily Smithgall died on 10 January 1934 at Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 67 years, 9 months and 23 days.1 She was buried on 13 January 1934 in the Wildwood Cemetery, located in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1
     She was widowed at age 21 by the death of William on 1 October 1887.2,3 Her obituary was published on 14 January 1934 in the The Grit, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Her obituary stated:

     Allen - Mrs. William Allen, 68 years old, of 1257 Vine Avenue, died Wednesday at her home. Mrs. Allen was an active member of the Calvary M. E. Church and was president of the Ladies' Aid Society. She leaves her husband; three daughters; Sara, at home; Mrs. Francis Mitstifer, of this city, and Mrs. Dawson Carr, of Calvert; a son Robert at home; a sister; Margaret Thomas; two brothers, Thomas and William Smithgall. Services were held yesterday afternoon at home with burial in Wildwood.1
