Raymond Theodore VanBebber married, at age 24, Shirley Gooch on Saturday, 18 September 1948. Raymond Theodore VanBebber died on 30 August 2001 at North Kansas City Hospital, Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri, at age 77 years, 9 months and 18 days. He was buried on 3 September 2001 in the Hillcrest Cemetery, located in Clay County, Missouri.

Mr. Raymond Theodore VanBebber, 77, of Excelsior Springs, MO, passed away Thursday, August 30, 2001, at North Kansas City Hospital. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Monday, September 3, at St. Ann Catholic Church in Excelsior Springs. Burial will full Military Honors in Hillcrest Cemetery. Mr. VanBebber will lie-in-state from 12 noon until 8 p.m. Sunday, at the Prichard Chapel, with the Rosary being recited at 8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Disabled American Veterans and may be left at the funeral home.
Mr. VanBebber was born November 12, 1923 in Excelsior Springs, MO, to Mary Elizabeth (Pieffier) and William Sherman VanBebber. He was a lifelong Excelsior Springs resident. He had served his country during WWII in the U.S. Navy from 1942-1945. On September 18, 1948, he was untied in marriage to Shirley Gooch. He had been employed as an inspector for the Ford Motor Company, Claycomo, MO for 21 years, retiring in 1973. He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Excelsior Springs and the United Automobile Workers Local #249 in Claycomo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, William A. VanBebber, and Leo F. 'Dutch' VanBebber; three sisters, Geraldine VanBebber, Helen McCrary and Mary Thelma Battagler. He is survived by his wife of almost 53 years, Shirley VanBebber of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Bill Gray, Gail and Robert Bissell and Becky and John Arnold, all of Liberty, MO; a sister, Phyllis Miller of Tallahassee, FL; and seven grandchildren.
