Margaret Alberta Slocum was born on 19 August 1875 at Wayne County, Iowa. She was the daughter of Nelson Everett Slocum and Sarah Jane Smith. Margaret Alberta Slocum married, at age 20, Charles Clarence Blackman, age 27, son of Lewis Blackman and Elizabeth Wicker, on Tuesday, 31 December 1895 at Wayne County, Iowa. Margaret Alberta Slocum married John Riley Burris in 1922 at Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa. Margaret Alberta Slocum died on 7 May 1948 at Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa, at age 72 years, 8 months and 18 days. She was buried in the Humeston Cemetery, located in Humeston, Wayne County, Iowa.
